My degree was in Web Development and I graduated on July 15th 2011.

My current job title is a Junior Software Developer
Could you briefly describe the organization you work for?
I work for a company named ‘Crimson Consultants Ltd’. It is a software and solution based company who primarily work with Microsoft. The company use Microsoft Dynamics CRM which manages their company which provides the companies work, clients, customers, profits, work-flows and work items.
Did you complete a foundation degree or HND/C before studying for your degree?
Before attending University I attended Gorseinon College for 2 years and from there I had 2 A-Levels.
Did any of your degree modules inspire you or help you in choosing your job? How?
The degree that I studied gave me an insight into what I really want to do in my career/future. It gave me an idea of what I am most strongest in; in regards to programming languages and web design.
What modules are most helpful to you in your job?
In my job the module that helps the most is application development, web design, research development methods and data centric programming.
Where do you find yourself using the transferable skills that you developed in University (e.g. initiative, communication skills, critical thinking and analytical skills, presentation and interpersonal skils, team working, ethics, time management and organizational skills)?
I am currently using skills that i got taught in university. I am using my communication, team working, time management, development and presentation skills.
Where do you use your specialist skills and abilities (e.g. business, programming, web, databases, networks etc.)
I find that my skills lie between programming, web and databases.
Do you have a typical day and how would you describe it?
My typical day consists of using XML to create a ribbon within CRM to hold buttons. I also use javascript and silverlight to help with CRM and the companies work items and work flows. Every day is different but for now I am working with XML and the CRM system.
What aspects of your job do you enjoy most?
I like how everyone is a team and how we make a joint effort towards the company. I also enjoy the development challenges that the company set me.
Any tips for someone wanting to develop a career in your sector?
Before you choose the subject you want to study in University, carefully think that this is what you want to do in your future. I didn’t have to think before choosing my degree as I already knew that I wanted to be within a web/development business.
