Swansea Met’s Computer Society
http://www.facebook.com/groups/metcs
A fun Computer oriented society. The main aim of the society is to bring all streams and years together through three main channels:
Socials: |
We have sober and drinking socials; these cover a wide range of activities such as parties, board game/ video game nights etc. This provides an opportunity for people of all types to meet up and get to know each other.
Academic Support: | We are positioning ourselves as first line of contact should society members need help with anything, this includes weekly drop in sessions run by society members, a Facebook group where people can ask questions, text book sharing etc. This also means that we can ensure that students ARE ACTUALLY TALKING TO LECTURERS!
Extra Curricular Activities: |
We do all sorts of computing related activities that can be chucked on a CV:We are currently working with Glenn Jenkins and “PhD Tim” to build a networked cluster computer.Working with Nik Whitehead to run a Robotics tournament.Working with Swansea University Computer Society to hold “flash talks” which is where lecturers and students meet up and give small talks on a subject of interest until they finish their talk. |
